Strengthening health, safety and efficiency at Dover Trussed Roof Company
At Calldene Structural Timber Solutions, we’ve continued to invest in our manufacturing operations with the latest phase being the installation of a £140k machine press at our Dover Trussed Roof Company site – improving health and safety, increasing efficiency and expanding our production capability.
As part of our ongoing growth programme, the new Mark 8C A-Frame press, manufactured by MiTek Industries, enhances the truss assembly process by reducing manual handling and creating a safer, more efficient working environment for employees. Complementing our Kent-based site’s recent building expansion, the machine press installation maximises the newly upgraded production space – increasing flexibility and enabling Calldene to take on more complex and bespoke projects.
Increasing efficiency through advanced machinery
The new machine press is used for truss assembly and pressing joint connectors to form the finished product. With independent pressing tables, the system reduces bottlenecks typically associated with traditional single bed presses – helping to streamline production and improve lead times, playing a key role in improving Calldene’s overall output.
This enhanced capability also provides greater flexibility for more complex and bespoke projects, giving our design teams the scope to develop more innovative structural solutions for customers.
Supporting safer operations
Alongside efficiency improvements, the installation represents an important step forward in boosting health and safety across the site. By reducing manual handling within the production process, the new press supports safer working practices while enabling a smoother, more consistent workflow.
These improvements will also increase responsiveness at Dover Trussed Roof Company, while strengthening the support we provide to customers through our Triad Timber Components site.
Les Fuller, Managing Director at Calldene Structural Timber Solutions, said:
“The installation of the MiTek machine press is a pivotal step in our ongoing investment programme to improve safety, efficiency and capability across the business. By creating a safer and more efficient manufacturing environment, we are directly improving responsiveness at Dover Trussed Roof Company while expanding the support we provide to customers via our Triad Timber Components site. This increased efficiency will ensure faster turnaround times for our clients, further strengthening Calldene’s reputation as a flexible, technically capable partner.”
A continued focus on growth and capability
This latest investment forms part of a wider programme of improvements across the business, following a major building expansion and the introduction of our first dedicated delivery vehicle.
Together, these upgrades are enhancing capacity, delivery capability and overall service for customers across Southern England, supported by both our Dover Trussed Roof Company and Triad Timber Components operations.
With the new machinery set to be fully operational in March 2026, this investment supports our long-term growth strategy and strengthens our position within the structural timber market.
