Discover how Calldene Structural Timber Solutions is improving health and safety at Triad Timber Components with a new, modern dust extraction system.
Investing in safer, cleaner manufacturing at Triad Timber Components
At Calldene Structural Timber Solutions, we’ve strengthened health and safety at our Triad Timber Components site with a major upgrade to our dust extraction system – helping to maintain a safer, cleaner working environment for our team.
The new system is the latest in a series of investments across our manufacturing operations as part of our ongoing growth programme. As our facilities and production requirements evolve, we’re continuing to invest in the infrastructure needed to support them.
Upgrading our dust extraction system
Replacing an older extraction unit, the new Air Plants D7000 system is larger, quieter and easier for our team to access for cleaning and maintenance. Installed alongside new ducting throughout the factory, it creates a modern extraction system with additional capacity to support our future requirements.
The new extractor has also been relocated to a more accessible area at the front of the factory, making ongoing maintenance and the removal of dust bags easier while reducing noise for neighbouring businesses.
The upgrade includes:
● Waist-height dust collection bags for safer, easier handling
● New ducting throughout the factory
● Variable suction controls at individual machines
● Built-in vacuum points to support manual dust cleaning around equipment
● Improved access for ongoing maintenance and waste removal
Together, these improvements provide a modern dust extraction system that better supports the day-to-day operation of the factory, while also providing additional capacity for future expansion of the extraction network.
Supporting safer, more efficient operations
Effective dust management is an important part of maintaining a safe and clean working environment for our staff. The new system makes the handling of sawdust waste easier for our team, with multiple waist-height collection bags replacing the previous system, which deposited waste into a hopper at ground level.
The installation was carefully planned around our existing operations, allowing the new system to be completed without disrupting production.
Following installation, the old extractor was decommissioned and sent for recycling, while its former location at the side of the factory has been cleaned, tidied and re-fenced.
It’s another practical investment in making our manufacturing facilities safer, more efficient and ready to meet the future needs of our business and our customers.
