New appointment strengthens operations and procurement at Calldene Structural Solutions
We’re pleased to welcome Alfred Langdon as our new Procurement and Operations Controller/Administrator.
Based at our Canterbury site, Alfred will oversee purchasing and operational processes, supporting both the factory and office teams. He’ll work closely with management and production staff to maintain strong supplier relationships, coordinate materials, and help ensure smooth, safe, and efficient day-to-day operations.
As part of Calldene’s continued growth, Alfred will also support ongoing improvements to production efficiency and compliance. His role will see him work across a range of operational areas – from monitoring stock and equipment to ensuring all processes run safely and effectively – helping the company deliver a consistently high standard of service to its customers.
Alfred joins Calldene with a background in various customer-facing and technical roles, including experience as an educational consultant for Medtronic, a manufacturer of insulin pumps for people with type 1 diabetes. Prior to this, he worked in a range of customer service positions and spent a year abroad in Greece, developing strong communication and problem-solving skills that he now brings to the role.
When we asked Alfred about his new role, he told us:
“I have always wanted to work in the supply side of a business, and this opportunity was just what I was looking for. I had a really good feel for the company from the very first phone call, and the Dover office is in a lovely location – although I’m not particularly looking forward to doing the stock counts outdoors once the winter weather arrives!”
Alfred brings experience from a range of customer-facing and technical roles, including time spent as an educational consultant for Medtronic, a manufacturer of insulin pumps for people with Type 1 diabetes. Prior to this, he worked in various customer service positions and spent a year abroad in Greece, broadening his experience and adaptability across different working environments.
Off-site and off-duty, Alfred describes himself as a keen sports enthusiast. He follows football, test match cricket, and various combat sports, and enjoys running, rowing, and table tennis. An avid reader with a taste for murder thrillers, specifically ones written by Jo Nesbo. Alfred also has an unusual hobby – solving Rubik’s cubes up to 13x13x13, with his best 3x3x3 solve taking around 30 seconds. Having lived in Finland, Greece, and the UK, Alfred is passionate about travel and learning new skills, with ambitions to pick up a new language or musical instrument in the near future.
Les Fuller, Managing Director at Calldene Structural Timber Solutions says: “We’re delighted to welcome Alfred to Calldene. His enthusiasm, problem-solving skills and hands-on approach to the role will make him a real asset to both our operations and procurement teams.
